NTEKA is a 4 piece post hardcore/emo band from Athens, Greece.
We formed as a band approximately 3 years ago. For some of us it was the entry point to playing music in general. Our need to express what was in our minds and our love for aggresive and emotional music, was the motive for the form of the band.
The same time, everything in the world started falling apart and things that thought acquired, were forcely taken from us. During these times of social instabillity, when fear and cannibalism were the rule, NTEKA became the only way to deal with all this struggle and despair.
We are a part of the self organized music studio STUΔIO, from the first day. This space is a vital element of the band. All of our rehearsals are taking place there, our first album was recorded there. The most significant thing is the connection that was built with all the people within. We are doings things as a collective, without hierarchy and forms of authority and that means everyone is involved and takes equal part in what STUΔIO does. That be live gigs, rehearsals, endless jamming, assemblies, carrying amps and drum sets, cleaning etc etc.
Being a part of the DIY scene means loving each other, supporting eache other, helping each other. It's not about competition, not about the glory. It's not about promotion, marketing or making money.
It's about the unmediated expression and the companionship, the opposition to power, oppresion and to everyone that bears them.
NTEKA is a call to embrace what's inside of you and scream it to the loudest.
Its an aim to politicize the emotional roller coaster we're being through in our lives, an aim to understand it.
And by understanding it, an attempt to change it.
